Okay. Hi! Heatwive in New York and presumably elsewhere. Heatwave sounds like a genre of music. XXXWave is a way of categorigatizing art and specifically music! Dad warned me about Heatwave and I was like WHAT IS THAT SOME NEW KIND OF MUSIC I HAVEN’T HEARD OF? AM I RIGHT? And then my Dad went on with the rest of his day. More Severe Heatwave sounds like the consequence of Global Warming. Am I Right? Let’s check in with scientist. Celebrity Scientist! Oh you mean like Tom Cruise and John Travolta. NO YOU FOOL. I mean like Bill Nye or Neil DeGrasse Tyson. REAL MODERN DAY SCIENCE HEROES. They’re doing their best I’m sure to Science Society. They wake up each day asking themselves Am I Doing Enough To Impress Science Upon People. It Feels Like NO. But they’re giving it a shot so whatever. There was a long ad for Tom Cruise before Supergirl. Just a clip show of his top scenes of all time and then ad for his upcoming movie. I blame that for the movie itself only being adequate. Certainly contributed to an Overall Imperfect Experience! It was an OKAY movie. I liked PARTS of it. Just didn’t LOVE It. I feel like Super hero movies have just become Jukebox. What song can we play for this sequence. LOOK I GET IT. CURATING MUSIC IS THE BEST. But you’re making A Regular Dramatic FILM. Think about priorities!
To be fair one of those songs in Supergirl they played for fun was a song I’ve imagined Playing For Fun in one of my imaginary movies I’ve imagined. NO SPOILERS but they played that song and I was likeHEY I WANTED TO PLAY THAT SONG IN A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE AS A FUN TREAT. Ah well. Can they make a super hero movie where the conflict is Fighting Climate Change and also they impress upon people that Also This Is The Real World We’re Living In In This Movie. HMM. Anyway here’s a strange update my Mom wants a Pumpernickel Bread. I guess I’m gonna try a slice of Pumpernickel Bread for the first time in 30 years. Trying to remember what it tastes like. I don’t think I liked it! But it’s worth giving it a shot. It’s a funny word! And bread is one of my favorites in general. Anyway I watched a few episodes of ELLE. The Legalle Blund prequel series. It’s pretty good! I think it’s affable. And LAFFable. It takes place in Seattle in 1995 mostly in high school. Imagine that with the Vince McMahon meme where he gets more and more excited. Seattle. 1995. High School. I’M ON BOARD FOR THAT KIND OF TV SHOW SETTING. I guess. Also the characters are just like us! Not necessarily us, as in us including me, but us as in Teenagers Today. I feel like kids today are probably a lot like Teenagers From Seattle in 1995 and that’s the point the show is trying to make! What am I basing that on? I Don’t KNOW!
Okay. There should be MORE shows about Teenagers Today like this one about Teenagers from 30 years ago. Hmm. I like how they’re into Grunge. It feels WRONG to see people into Grunge. Like I’m a Voyeur In Time. I’m not supposed to see this part of Human History. Oh well. Here’s a poem I just wrote—“Seattle, Cattle” and that’s it. It’s called Sea-attle but I’m 95% sure it’s on dry land. At least for the most part. If it was built on the sea everything would be more shaky. It’s raining all the time there so is it REALLY dry land? Yes I Think So. Oh okay. Anyway I dunno. Seattle is pretty cool but Portland, Oregon is even cooler. HEY I just realized Elle is playing The Oregon Trail in one episode and THAT’S HER JOURNEY. SHE WENT To Washington Not Oregon but let’s not split hairs! Anyway. I like The Oregon Trail. It’s a fun thing. And its heart is in the right place. Did roughly half the people on the Oregon trail REALLY die. Or is that just the video game. Maybe half the people on The Oregon Trail would really die BUT ONLY IF BEING TOLD WHAT TO DO BY EIGHT YEAR OLDS. Internet says a mere 10% people making the trek died. I guess they knew what they were doing more then elementary school students in a computer lab on a Macintosh.
Great. 10% deathrate is still pretty high but to be fair it’s probably highly concentrated in infants and young children. So us adults should probably be okay! Also high elderly mortality rate. WHEW I’M NOT THAT EITHER. I should be doing alright! I’m making this trip FOR my kids. I want to give them a glamorous Oregon Lifestyle! If they die I’d have done this for naught! Anyway. Too bad I haven’t gotten my prescription Sunglasses yet. These are prime days to be wearing them! I’m wearing contact lenses. If I wore them over contact lenses I’d be seeing Fuzzy! Oh well we all have to make sacrifices. What if I wasn’t wearing contact lens though. Too late for that. THAT’S IN THE WORST 10% OF STORIES I EVER HEARD. Sunglass/contact lense riff. Oh well. I’m gonna read a How To Write Songs book or two in the near future. Add that in amongst the Music Memoirs I’ve been reading. Couldn’t HURT. Shure it could. That stuff could easily stifle my creativity in the guise of trying to jumpstart it. I’LL give it a shot though! Everything you do in life that you think will help, there’s about a 50% chance it’ll end up working against you. What are you gonna do just sit around and do nothing? GO FOR IT. This one songwriting book is apparently a bunch of tips or recommendations from Great Songwriters. How bad could that be. Plus it’s like 700 pages! If it’s that many pages it must be good!
Anyway. Let’s see. NEIL like Astronaut. DEGRASSE like the Canadian soap opera for teenagers. TYSON like chicken nuggets. THIS MAN’S NAME MEANS BUSINESS. Not sure about any of those associations. I think we could do better for all three! Huh. If he didn’t include his deGrasse in his name it sounds like a challenge to world champion heavyweight fighter Mike Tyson to kneel before him. That’s probably why he added Degrasse. To avoid any possible confusion. Whatever. Who’s the third most prominent American scientist. That guy on the food network. Alton Brown. He did a show where he explains things about foods— scientifically! Somehow he gets the Bronze. Look if America is gonna listen to a scientist about anything it’s FOOD. Might as well meet people where they are. Anyway. I know kids before me played Oregon Trail. What about kids AFTER me. Did kids of the 2000’s play it? 2010’s? IS IT STILL GOING ON TO THIS DAY? Internet says Maybe Sometimes To Some Degree Yes A Little. Not 100% sure if they’re going back to Old Classic Version or New Fancy Version. OH well. I remember some versions of The Oregon Trail let you decide one of four or six Final Destinations near the end of the game. You have to decide to go on the path to settle in Oregon or in different parts Of California, Etc. I was always like I’M PLAYING THE OREGON TRAIL AND I’M GONNA FUCKIN’ GO TO OREGON. GET OUT OF HERE WITH THIS CALIFORNIA BULLSHIT. I’M IN IT TO WIN IT. Anyway. That’s all! See ya later.
